Your surgical body procedures from Dr Weymouth at Camberwell Plastic Surgery

Every patient will have a notion of what they want to achieve with body contouring procedures.

The correct procedure not only depends on your desired outcome but other factors that you may not be aware of.

Some procedures are suited to certain body conditions and may cause more issues if not used in the correct circumstances. For example, performing liposuction for abdominal contouring, where there is already lose tissue and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) would be more appropriate and give a much better overall result.

Your procedure may be a combination of several techniques, best suited to achieve your ideal result.

Body Lift

Body tissues that have been excessively stretched will lose their elastic properties and will be unable to tighten and shrink back to their original size after weight loss has been achieved. Although the

fat is lost, excess skin often remains, which can be very demoralising.

A body lift (or belt lipectomy) addresses circumferential tissue at the tummy and back, removing the excess tissue and improving the contour.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

This is a body contouring operation that improves the abdominal contour. Lower excessive abdominal tissue (or pannus) is removed and the tissue above the belly button (umbilicus) is also tightened. The flanks (or love handles) are also removed in this procedure.

Often during pregnancy, the central abdominal muscles can separate and the tough fibrous tissue between them stay stretched. This muscle separation (or divarication) can affect the muscle function, putting strain on the core and contributing to back pain. This muscles can be plicated back to their original position during an abdominoplasty.
